John David Lentz III, MD, MBA
Board-Certified Family Physician & Principal Investigator
Over four decades of clinical experience, from military medicine to outpatient care, Dr. Lentz brings deep expertise in evidence-based treatment to every patient he serves.
A Lifetime Dedicated to Patient Care
Dr. John David Lentz III has been a trusted voice in family medicine for over 45 years. After earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completing his residency in family practice, Dr. Lentz went on to serve as a Flight Surgeon with the U.S. Navy, an experience that shaped his commitment to rigorous, disciplined clinical care.
His training in both medicine and business administration (MBA, Kennesaw State University) reflects an uncommon dual fluency: the ability to see patients as whole people while navigating the systems designed to care for them. That perspective has guided his work in private practice, clinical research, and now outpatient detox.
Dr. Lentz holds active licensure through the Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners and continues to see patients today. His involvement in clinical research, as a Principal Investigator on more than 50 multi-phase studies, means the care he delivers is grounded in the latest evidence, not yesterday's protocols.
Principal Investigator, 50+ Published Studies
Dr. Lentz has served as a Principal Investigator on more than 50 Phase 1, 3 clinical trials across cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and pain management, including research on opioid use disorder treatments, addiction medicine, and controlled substance safety. His ongoing research work ensures his clinical practice stays at the leading edge of evidence-based medicine.
